Terms & Conditions

Terms & Conditions

Last updated: August 2026

1. Who We Are

Tamworth Driving Lessons is operated by Nationwide Driving School Ltd.

These Terms & Conditions apply to driving lesson enquiries, bookings and tuition arranged through Tamworth Driving Lessons.

By booking or taking driving lessons through us, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

2. Driving Instructors

Driving tuition may be provided by self-employed driving instructors working with or through Nationwide Driving School Ltd.

Where applicable, the contract for driving tuition is between the pupil and the individual driving instructor providing the lesson.

Tamworth Driving Lessons and Nationwide Driving School Ltd. may assist with enquiries, instructor allocation, lesson administration, customer support and general booking arrangements.

3. Instructor Status

Lessons may be provided by:

  • DVSA-approved Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs)
  • DVSA-licensed Potential Driving Instructors (PDIs)

Where a PDI provides tuition, they are licensed by the DVSA to give paid driving instruction while completing the qualification process.

4. Your Driving Licence

You must hold a valid provisional or full UK driving licence that allows you to take the type of driving lesson booked.

You may be asked to provide evidence of your driving licence before or during your first lesson.

You must tell your instructor if:

  • your licence is revoked, suspended or withdrawn
  • you receive a driving disqualification
  • there is a change to your entitlement to drive
  • a medical condition affects your ability to drive safely
  • DVLA places restrictions on your licence

You must not take a lesson if you are not legally entitled to drive.

5. Fitness to Drive

You must be fit to drive safely at the time of your lesson.

You must not attend a lesson under the influence of:

  • alcohol
  • illegal drugs
  • medication that makes you unsafe to drive
  • any other substance that could impair your driving

If your instructor reasonably believes that you are not fit to drive safely, the lesson may be cancelled.

6. Eyesight

You must meet the legal eyesight requirements for driving.

Your instructor may check your eyesight before allowing you to drive.

If you cannot meet the required eyesight standard, the lesson may not proceed.

7. Lesson Bookings

Driving lessons are subject to instructor availability.

Lesson times, dates and duration should be agreed with your instructor or through Tamworth Driving Lessons.

You should arrive or be ready at the agreed pickup location at the agreed lesson time.

If you are late, the lesson may still finish at the originally agreed finishing time.

8. Lesson Duration

Lesson length will depend on the booking you make.

Typical options may include:

  • 1-hour lessons
  • 2-hour lessons
  • block bookings
  • intensive driving courses
  • test preparation lessons

Availability may vary depending on the instructor, transmission type and location.

9. Lesson Prices

Prices are shown on the Tamworth Driving Lessons website and may vary depending on:

  • manual or automatic tuition
  • lesson duration
  • block booking package
  • intensive course
  • instructor availability
  • location
  • promotional offers

Prices may change from time to time.

The price confirmed at the time of booking will normally apply to that booking unless otherwise stated.

10. Block Bookings

Block booking packages may be available at a discounted rate.

Block booking discounts apply only to the specific package purchased.

Unless otherwise agreed:

  • block bookings are for one named pupil
  • unused hours cannot be transferred to another pupil
  • promotional offers cannot normally be combined
  • block booking prices may change for future purchases

New learner offers may be limited to one introductory package per pupil.

11. Payments

Payment arrangements may vary depending on the instructor or package booked.

Payment may be required:

  • before the lesson
  • at the start of the lesson
  • in advance for block bookings
  • in advance for intensive courses

You are responsible for ensuring that agreed payments are made on time.

12. Cancellation Policy

We normally require at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or rearrange a lesson.

Where less than 48 hours’ notice is given, the lesson may be charged in full.

This also applies if:

  • you are not available at the agreed pickup time
  • you do not attend
  • you cancel after the cancellation deadline
  • you are unable to take the lesson because you are not legally or safely able to drive

Your instructor may use reasonable discretion in exceptional circumstances.

13. Instructor Cancellations

Sometimes an instructor may need to cancel or rearrange a lesson because of:

  • illness
  • vehicle problems
  • severe weather
  • road conditions
  • emergencies
  • circumstances outside their reasonable control

Where this happens, the instructor will normally try to rearrange the lesson.

Tamworth Driving Lessons and Nationwide Driving School Ltd. are not responsible for indirect losses caused by a lesson being cancelled or rearranged.

14. Driving Lesson Vehicles

Tuition vehicles should be appropriately insured and suitable for paid driving instruction.

The type of car used may vary by instructor.

If a particular vehicle becomes unavailable, the instructor may use a replacement vehicle where appropriate.

15. Manual and Automatic Lessons

Manual and automatic tuition may be available, subject to instructor availability.

You are responsible for selecting the correct lesson type when making an enquiry or booking.

A pupil who passes a practical test in an automatic car will normally receive an automatic-only licence unless they later pass the required test in a manual vehicle.

16. Learner Progress

Driving progress differs from person to person.

Your instructor may recommend additional lessons where they believe further practice is needed.

No specific number of lessons can guarantee that a learner will reach test standard.

17. No Pass Guarantee

We do not guarantee that any pupil will pass their practical driving test.

Test success depends on many factors, including:

  • driving ability
  • consistency
  • decision-making
  • observation
  • nerves
  • road and traffic conditions
  • performance on the day

Our role is to provide tuition, guidance and preparation to help you work towards safe independent driving.

18. Practical Driving Tests

Learners are responsible for booking and managing their own car practical driving test through the official DVSA booking system.

Tamworth Driving Lessons, Nationwide Driving School Ltd. and individual instructors do not book or manage the learner’s practical car test on their behalf.

If you want to use an instructor’s vehicle for your test, you should tell the instructor as early as possible.

Use of an instructor’s vehicle for a practical test is always subject to:

  • instructor availability
  • vehicle availability
  • the pupil being considered safe and ready to attend the test
  • adequate notice
  • payment of any applicable lesson or test-day vehicle charges

19. Instructor Vehicle for the Test

An instructor may refuse the use of their vehicle for a practical driving test if they reasonably believe that:

  • the pupil is not ready
  • the pupil could present an unreasonable safety risk
  • the vehicle is unavailable
  • insufficient notice has been given
  • payment arrangements have not been completed

This decision is based on safety and professional judgement.

20. Intensive Driving Courses

Intensive driving courses are subject to availability and suitability.

The number of hours recommended may depend on your current driving experience.

For test-linked intensive courses, the learner must arrange their own practical driving test date before the course can be confirmed.

Course availability around a particular test date cannot be guaranteed until instructor availability has been checked.

The practical driving test fee is not automatically included with every intensive course. Please check the individual course details or contact us before booking.

21. Refunds

Refunds will depend on the circumstances and the type of booking made.

Where a refund is agreed:

  • completed lessons will not normally be refundable
  • cancellation charges may be deducted
  • any agreed non-refundable booking or administration charges may be deducted
  • promotional discounts may be recalculated where part of a package has already been used

Refund requests should be made as soon as possible.

22. Unused Block Booking Hours

If you stop lessons before using all prepaid hours, any refund will be assessed according to the circumstances.

Lessons already taken may be recalculated at the applicable standard lesson rate before any remaining balance is refunded.

This prevents a pupil from receiving a block-booking discount on hours already taken where the full package is not completed.

23. Behaviour

Pupils are expected to behave respectfully towards instructors and staff.

Abusive, threatening, discriminatory, aggressive or unsafe behaviour will not be tolerated.

An instructor may stop a lesson immediately if they reasonably believe a pupil’s behaviour creates a safety risk.

In serious cases, future lessons may be refused.

24. Mobile Phones

Pupils must not use a handheld mobile phone while driving.

Your instructor may ask you to switch your phone off or place it out of reach during the lesson.

25. Personal Property

You are responsible for your own personal belongings during lessons.

Tamworth Driving Lessons, Nationwide Driving School Ltd. and instructors are not responsible for loss or damage to personal property unless caused by negligence where liability cannot legally be excluded.

26. Weather and Road Conditions

Lessons may be cancelled or rearranged where weather or road conditions make driving unsafe.

Examples may include:

  • snow
  • ice
  • flooding
  • severe storms
  • dangerous road conditions

Safety will take priority over completing the scheduled lesson.

27. Complaints

If you have a concern about your driving lessons, please raise it as soon as possible.

Where possible, first discuss the matter with your instructor.

If the issue is not resolved, you can contact Tamworth Driving Lessons or Nationwide Driving School Ltd.

We will try to review genuine complaints fairly and reasonably.

28. Privacy and Personal Information

Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
